Les “Stamp” Shafto, the son of Leon and Dorothy (Case) Shafto, was born February 24, 1940 in Kearney, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm near Pleasanton where he attended school and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1957. After high school, Les furthered his education by attending a business college in Omaha, NE.
On May 4, 1958, Les was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Pearson at the United Methodist Church in Pleasanton. They made their home in Nebraska until 1962, when they moved to Glenwood, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Teri and Sheri. Les and Pat shared 59 years of marriage.
Les worked for the United States Post office for 30 years, 15 of those as Postmaster. His last tenure was in the Brandon office before his retirement in 2000.
Les enjoyed fishing, fishing and more fishing. He also enjoyed the outdoors and gardening, but Les’ passion was fishing. He also loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. Les passed away June 6, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, age the age of 77.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Shafto of Glenwood; daughters: Teri (Kurt) Peterson of Glenwood and Sheri (John) Baughman of Kearney, NE; grand-children: Shanna (Dan), Cassie (Josh), Jonathon, Jeffrey (Jallyce), and Hailee; great-grandchildren: Miles, Alexander, Abby, Sydney, Tayte, Lucas, Vivian, Jesilya and Judge; sister, Lori Shimek of Omaha, NE, and many dear friends.
Les is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Joan Zimmer.
