Vicky L. VanVickle

Vicky L. VanVickle, age 69 of Glenwood, died September 5, 2022, at the Glenwood Retirement Village. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 24th at Glenwood Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. 

Vicky Lyn VanVickle was born January 20, 1953, to Leonard and Lorraine (Martin) VanVickle at Glenwood Hospital in Glenwood, MN. She was the third of the couple’s seven children. Vicky grew up in Glenwood, where she attended Glenwood public schools, graduating in 1971.

After high school, Vicky worked at various restaurants in the area including Roger’s Café, The Pub, and Phillipe’s Pizza. In 1973, she started working at Glenwood Retirement Village as a nursing assistant. She enjoyed her role in caring for patients and remained there for almost 30 years. She finished her career at Lakeview Good Samaritan Home, also in Glenwood, retiring when the home closed. 

Vicky enjoyed family get-togethers, going to the movies with friends and her grandson when he was younger. She was a proud and loving great grandma to Grayson and Rory and she especially enjoyed it when her great-great nieces and nephews, Payten, Shawn Jr. and Marley would spend the night. Vicky also liked doing word-find puzzles, Sudoku, and occasional trips to the casino. She also enjoyed bird w

atching with her dog, Toby. She will be remembered by those who knew her as a caregiver.

Vicky is survived by her daughter, Jody (Chris) Madsen of Glenwood; grandson, Andrew (Cheyenne) Madsen of Glenwood; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Rory Madsen; two sisters, Barb Sanvig and Debbie VanVickle; one brother, David (Kathy) VanVickle; a brother-in-law, Mike Martin; two uncles, Steven Martin and Gary (Donna) Martin; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lorraine VanVickle; her son, Michael VanVickle (in 2020); and three sisters, Carolyn Martin, Cheryl VanVickle, and Charlene VanVickle.
