Timothy W. Magill was born on July 21, 1967, in Orange, CA to Donald George and Evelyn June (Cook) Magill. Due to medical issues, Timothy was baptized into the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, immediately upon his birth by the Pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Orange, in the St. Joseph's Hospital operating room. Timothy graduated from Orange High School in June of 1985. He attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM, earning an Associate of Arts degree in May of 1987. Timothy completed his Bachelor of Science degree in E-Business in February of 2003 at University of Phoenix in San Jose, CA. Timothy graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN with his Masters of Divinity, on May 22, 2020.
Before coming to the seminary, Timothy worked for several years in the retail and food service industries and met his wife Mary Jean (Choate) Magill while working at McDonald’s in Albuquerque, NM. They were married on July 12, 1997 at Immanuel Lutheran Church also in Albuquerque. Later, Timothy made the jump from selling computers at Sears to providing technical support for the software company Intuit. He worked for them for twelve years in three different states, and was promoted into more technical roles, eventually becoming a computer programmer and project manager. Later he worked contract positions in the government sector as a computer programmer for the United Nations (NY), Sandia National Laboratory (NM), and the US Department of the Interior (CO). After much prayerful consideration, Timothy applied to the on-line pre-seminary program for Concordia Theological Seminary in November of 2011 on a part-time basis while continuing to work. He moved to Fort Wayne and started the in-person full-time Summer Greek intensive in June of 2016, graduating in 2020.
Timothy was ordained into the Holy Ministry on July 19, 2020. It was his joy to serve as pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Villard, MN and Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove Lake, MN. On December 26, 2020, God blessed his servant, Timothy and took him home to rest in the arms of Jesus Christ his Savior.
Timothy is survived by his wife, Mary Jean of Villard; one brother, Ronald George Magill of Kingman, AZ; his sister, Sandra June Torres and her husband, Cesar Torres, of Riverside, CA, and his sister, Virginia Ann James of Orange, CA; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pastor was known for his love of Christ, his family, and music, as well as his beautiful voice, his generosity, his humor, and his many, many stories.
