RoxAnn M. Kvitek, age 95, of Carlton, MN and formerly of Glenwood, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Aspirus St Luke's Hospital in Duluth. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 20th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood with Fr. Joe Vandeberg officiating. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood, will follow the service. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
RoxAnn was born on her Grandma and Grandpa Schueller’s farm near Perham, MN on July 21st, 1930 to parents Herman and Frieda (Hoffmann) Schueller. As a child, RoxAnn moved with her parents to Kelliher, MN where they had a small farm. Sadly, her father passed away in 1938, leaving Frieda to raise not only RoxAnn, but her two younger brothers. She attended Shotley Brooke School, a one room schoolhouse through 8th grade and graduated from Kelliher High School in 1948. That fall, she attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. After completing a one-year course, she went to work for the federal government at the Farmers Home Administration in Walker, MN. She transferred to the Glenwood office in 1954.
RoxAnn was united in marriage to Raynold Kvitek on June 30, 1956 in Glenwood, MN at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The two made their home in Glenwood and were blessed with the birth of one daughter, Renee on May 10, 1960.
In 1968, Ray and RoxAnn purchased Cliff’s Cafe in Glenwood from Cliff and Bea Hansen. They operated the cafe until 1974, when Ray’s health problems led them to sell the restaurant. In 1974, RoxAnn went to work at Glenwood State Bank where she worked until her retirement in July of 2005. She enjoyed working at the bank and cherished the long-time friendships she made with the people she worked with.
RoxAnn enjoyed sewing, traveling, music and dancing. She and her husband, Raynold, attended dances at the Lakeside Ballroom almost every Saturday night and danced to many of the bands of the time such as Wayne King, Fats Domino, Sammy Kay and many others. RoxAnn was active in the Glenwood American Legion Auxiliary and served as secretary for many years. She was also a long-time member of the Sacred Heart Church choir. She loved to travel; going on many vacations with her daughter, Renee and her family and all the bank trips she got to go on. She loved to laugh and have fun, telling her “Sam Hill” stories, and absolutely loved her Minnesota Twins, rarely missing a game - in fact she often planned her lawn mowing around when the Twins game would be on in the summer just so she could try to be done in time to watch.
In July of 2022, RoxAnn moved to Carlton, MN to be close to Renee and her grandchildren. She passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Aspirus St Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
RoxAnn is survived by her daughter, Renee, and husband, Alan Clairmont of Esko; two grandchildren, Stephanie, and husband, Joel Youngman of Cloquet, and Brent Clairmont of Superior, WI; one great-grandson, Tommy Clairmont, also of Superior, WI; her brother, Billy, and wife, Emily Schueller of Bemidji; sister-in-law, Evelyn Schueller of Rochester; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Schueller; her husband, Raynold (in 1987); her mother, Frieda and step-father, Ole Roe; a brother, Gene Schueller; her husband’s parents, Elvina and Robert Kvitek; sister-in-law, Ruby and her husband, Art “Kelly” Kellermann; sister-in-law, Leona and her husband, Gene Tvrdik; brother-in-law, Bobby and his wife, Emily Kvitek; sister-in-law, Myrtle, and her husband, Ernest Prchal; and special friend, Henry Holstad.
