Ronald Gieser, age 73 of Villard, died Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. A Celebration of Ron’s life visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22nd, starting at 11:00 a.m. at Heidi’s Bar in Sedan (formerly Rooney’s Bar).
Ronald Alfred Gieser was born on September 19, 1948 in Marshall, Minnesota. He was the first of six children born to Alfred and Yvonne (Larsen) Gieser. He grew up in Milroy and later the family moved to Villard. Ron graduated from Villard High School in 1966.
On August 24, 1966 Ron entered the United States Navy. He served his country and served time stationed on the USS Kennebec. Ron was honorable discharged on April 27, 1972. In 1983, Ron was united in marriage to Robin Miller at the Villard United Methodist Church. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Nathan and Nicholas. The couple later divorced and Ron continued to raise his son’s in Villard.
Ron was employed by Schwan’s as a semi-driver out of Marshall for 30 years. He also drove semi with Jim VanMoer and Jim Buysse. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with friends, driving country roads, watching pheasants, trap shooting and being the center of attention. He will be remembered for his personality and ability to make jokes and make everyone laugh. He will be deeply missed by all his friend and family. Ron died Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
He is survived by his mother, Yvonne Gieser of Alexandria; sons, Nathan and Nicholas Gieser both of Villard; grandson, Jaden Gieser; sisters: Nancy Bailey and Kathy Miller, brother, Bruce Gieser, grand-dogs, Daisy and Bear; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Gieser and sisters, Judy Cheek and Janice Schulte.
