Marian Stradtman, age 88, of Glenwood, died Monday, March 23, 2020, at Glenwood Retirement Village. A memorial service for Marian will be held on Friday, August 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood with Rev. Krista Lee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and burial will be in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. Face masks will be required as well as social distancing. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
Marian Eldoris (Berlin) Stradtman was born August 19, 1931 to Albert and Esther (Jonsson) Berlin in St. James, Minnesota. She graduated from St. James High School in 1949 and entered the Charles T. Miller School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minnesota. After her graduation in 1953, she worked at Miller Hospital and Anchor Hospital in St. Paul.
On March 21, 1954 she married Jim Stradtman at the Augustana Church in St. James, Minnesota. The couple lived in Fergus Falls before moving to Glenwood in 1956 where Jim worked at the Corner Drug as a pharmacist and Marian worked as a nurse at Glenwood Medical Center until their first son arrived in 1959. Marian and Jim shared 58 years of marriage before Jim passed away in 2012.
Marian was active in many organizations at Glenwood Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, circle member, GLCW, and had served on many special committees within the congregation. She was a member of two card clubs for over 50 years, had been a Cub Scout den mother, and served for several years on the Board of Directors of the Bickle Heritage House as well as many other special committees within the community, including many years working with Jim on Waterama. She enjoyed decorating (and redecorating), golf, playing cards and ski trips with the family. Marian died Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Glenwood Retirement Village.
She is survived by her two sons, Jordan (Beth Brown) Brooklyn Park, John (Becki) Cloquet; three grandchildren: Weston, Adam and Dylan; sisters-in-law: Bobbie Gates of Willmar, and Dorothy Marino of New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews and friends; special family friends, Jackie Stradtman (Scott) and Terri (Jim) Elsey.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband James; daughter, Jill; siblings, Robert Berlin, Joel Berlin, Margaret Anderson, and Ruth Sletta.
