Marcella "Anne" Snider Obituary

Marcella “Anne” Snider, 83, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Alomere hospital in Alexandria. A memorial service will be held at St Paul’s Lutheran church on Wednesday, November 17th at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be held at the St Paul’s cemetery following the service.

Marcella Anne Foster was born in Bakersfield California on February 24, 1938 to Reynolds David and LeOra Ada Marcella (Ware) Foster. She grew up in the Monterey CA area, she had many fond memories of hiking, camping and fishing at their cabin in Arroyo Seco. She graduated from Freemont High School in Sunnyville, California in 1955.

Anne met the love of her life, Herbert Snider and the two were married in San Jose CA on July 25, 1959. They spent the next 20 years as a Navy family stationed in Millington TN, Jacksonville FL, Virginia Beach VA, Lemoore CA and China Lake CA. Anne loved the Navy life and made each move enjoyable for the whole family.

Anne had many jobs, she enjoyed being a school bus driver and later catching up with the kids she had driven on the bus. Herb and Anne purchased the Country Café in Lowry. After the café closed, she worked for the Lowry Telephone Company, later Runestone Telecom where she retired. Anne and Herb shared 32 years of marriage before Herb died June 6, 1992.

Anne was very proud of having served as mayor of Lowry during the Centennial celebration in 1986. She was Lowry Citizen of the year and a member of the Lowry Lions. She was an active member of St Paul’s Lutheran church of Lowry, serving as church secretary for many years.

In 2004, Anne moved to San Antonio, TX to help with her grandsons. She enjoyed the 8 years she spent living in the beautiful Texas hill country. She had many adventures there, seeing the sights, cheering on her beloved San Antonio Spurs (Meeting Tim Duncan at a movie theater was especially exciting) and being “room grandma” for the boys at school. The boys were so blessed to have her as such a big part of their lives. However, she loved living in Lowry and returned in 2012 and was so happy to be reunited with her Minnesota family and friends. She was sad to leave as her health began to diminish, when she moved into the Ridgewood Villa in Glenwood. In the last few years, Anne fought cancer with grace and unwavering faith until November 4, 2021 when she passed away at the Alomere Hospital in Alexandria.

Anne is survived by her children, Scott (Pam) Snider of Liberty IL, Jeff (Beth) Snider of Lowry, Julie Formo of Lowry and Kristin (Robert) Stone of Lowry, grandchildren Annie (Dan) Johnson of Alexandria, Will (Amber) Formo of Minneapolis and Jackson Formo of Starbuck, sister Roberta Busby, of San Jose CA, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, husband and Granddaughter Katie Snider.
