Luella Oklobzija, age 99 of Hutchinson, formerly New Ulm and Glenwood, died Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Ecumen Oaks in Hutchinson. A memorial service celebrating Luella will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment was in the Lake Ann Cemetery in rural Glenwood. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Luella Ann Oklobzija was born on Christmas Day in 1926 to Clinton James and Margaret (Greenfield) Blair in Glenwood, Minnesota. She was the youngest and only daughter among five siblings in the Blair household. She was raised in Glenwood, was a member of the Plymouth Brethren Church in Villard and attended Glenwood High School, graduated in 1944. While in high school she began working at the local telephone company, a role she held for a decade. She was united in marriage to Goyko "Guy" Oklobzija, on August 4, 1951. Their union was blessed with two sons.
Luella's professional life was as varied as it was impactful. In 1964, she and her family moved to Hutchinson, where she served the community through her work with dispatch at the Hutchinson Police Department. Her dedication to public service continued when they relocated to New Ulm in 1972, and she joined the Brown County Sheriff's Department. She continued to work there until she retired.
Beyond her professional and family life, Luella was a woman of many passions. For twenty years, she owned and operated an antique business, combining her creative eye with her love for shopping. Her sense of humor was as timeless as the treasures she found, and her spirited nature made every interaction with her a memorable one.
She is survived by her sons, Blair (LuAnne) Oklobzija of White Bear Lake and Kevin Oklobzija of Rochester, NY; grandchildren: Blair (Amanda), Nic (Molly), and Kathryn (Nic) Oklobzija Barnett; great-grandchildren: Miles, Oliver, Calvin, Ella, Fiona, and Blair; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Guy, and her brothers Tom, Bill, Ralph, and Lamont Blair.
