Kathy Johnson Obituary

Kathy L. Johnson, age 65, of St. Cloud, formerly of Glenwood, died Monday, August 29, 2022, at her home, surrounded by loved ones, following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. A visitation will be held Saturday, September 10th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood, following a celebration of Kathy's life will be at 5 pm at the Midtown Square in St. Cloud. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Kathy Louise Johnson, the seventh of nine children born to Hilmer P. and Alice E. (Genung) Johnson was born August 18, 1957 in Glenwood, Minnesota. She grew up in Glenwood, attended Glenwood Lutheran Church and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1976. After high school, Kathy furthered her education at St. Cloud Technical College in St. Cloud, graduating with an associate’s degree in Machining.  

In May 1975, Kathy was united in marriage to Thomas E. Hendrickson in Glenwood. The two made their home on a farm near Lowry and were blessed with three children, Patricia, Thomas and Melissa. They also moved to Evansville, Glenwood, Melby Minnesota and Alaska. The couple later divorced in 1982.

Kathy met Dennis Ryan and they were united in marriage on June 26, 1993. When Dennis joined the family he adopting her three children and they made their home in St. Cloud. Kathy and Dennis shared 26 years of marriage before they divorced in 2019. Kathy was employed for the dry cleaners in Glenwood, Walmart in St. Cloud and later in life, the Fulfillment Distribution Center in St. Cloud.

Kathy enjoyed sewing, crafting, baking and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She loved the holidays and would decorate for each one. Kathy will be remembered for being everyone’s grandma, and her sleepovers on the living room floor with popcorn. She died Monday, August 29, 2022, at her home, surrounded by loved ones, following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kathy is survived by her son, Thomas Ryan of St. Cloud; daughters, Patricia Ryan and Melissa Dallmann of rural Lowry; grandchildren, Christopher, Brittney and Camron Ryan, Justin, AnnaMarie, Leona and Dakota Dallmann and 8 additional grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Temperence Dallmann; sister, Barbara (Pat) Kepner; brothers, Kenny (Bev) Johnson, Bradley (Martha) Johnson, Bruce (Della) Johnson and Ron (Deb) Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Richard, Arnold and Paul Johnson.
