JoAnn D. Johnson, age 87 of Glenwood, died Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Glenwood Retirement Village. A Memorial Service celebrating JoAnn's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21st at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace with Pastor Brenda Boogren officiating. JoAnn Darlene Johnson was born on September 10, 1938, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Clifford and Lois (Swanson) Burnson. JoAnn grew up on a farm north of Sunburg and had one brother, Carroll.

On March 23, 1957, JoAnn was united in marriage to Maurice Johnson at the First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake Parsonage. Together they began their life as husband and wife and made their home in various places before settling on their farm near Terrace in 1961. There, they built a life together and were blessed with four children. For 60 years, JoAnn and Maurice lovingly tended their farm and created a home filled with warmth, hard work, and devotion to one another and to their family.

In September of 2021, JoAnn and Maurice moved to Parkview Court in Glenwood and later to Glenwood Retirement Village. She was a loving homemaker who found joy in caring for her family and in the simple blessings of everyday life. She enjoyed bird watching, going for walks in the country, working on puzzles, coloring with her grandchildren, yard work, and spending time with animals. She especially loved cats, dancing with Maurice, and listening to country music. These simple pleasures reflected the peaceful and contented way she lived her life. JoAnn died Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Glenwood Retirement Village.

She is survived by her sons, David (Robin) Johnson of Starr, South Carolina, Gary (Jeri) Johnson of Glenwood, and Bryan (Amy) Johnson of Glenwood; her son-in-law, Rick Brower; her cherished grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Zenner, Melissa Brower, Becky (Chad) Melton, Mike (Lindsey) Brower, Megan (Austin) Castles, Ellen (Addison) Wood, Katie Mattson, Karie (Jon) Lange, and Riley Johnson; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice Johnson, on September 20, 2024; her daughter, Barb, in May of 2025; and her brother and his wife, Carroll “Bunny” and Barb Burnson.
