James Arlington Anderson, affectionately known as Jimmy by his friends and family, left this world on March 12, 2024, in Glenwood, Minnesota. His life began on July 29, 1934, in the small town of Lowry, Minnesota, where he was born to Edward and Sophie (Amundson) Anderson. As the second child in the Anderson family, Jimmy grew up with an innate sense of responsibility and a deep connection to his roots.

Raised on the family farm, Jimmy's early life was shaped by the values of hard work and community. He was baptized at Trysil Lutheran Church, which laid the foundation for his faith-filled life. Jimmy's education began at the local District 26 country school, and he later spent two years living in the dorms at the Morris Ag School, where he honed his agricultural skills and prepared for a lifetime of farming.

Jimmy's passion for agriculture was evident to all who knew him. He dedicated his life to the land, milking cows until 1980 and managing feeder cattle until 1987. Even after he retired in 2014 and began renting his land out, Jimmy's heart remained with the farm. His commitment to his work and the agricultural community was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed by those who worked alongside him.

Beyond his work, Jimmy had a variety of interests that enriched his life. He took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard, an extension of his love for the land. During the colder months, Jimmy found joy in wintering in the sunny climates of Nevada and Arizona, a well-deserved respite from the harsh Minnesota winters. At home, he was often found indulging in his favorite television shows, a simple pleasure that brought him great comfort.

Jimmy's kindness and friendliness were the cornerstones of his character, drawing people towards him and earning him the love and respect of many. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, and as a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lowry, he lived his beliefs through his actions, embodying the true spirit of a faith-filled life.

In 2023, Jimmy began experiencing health problems that necessitated daily nursing care. At that time he became a resident of Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. Jimmy passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, having lived to the age of 89.

Jimmy is survived by a community of friends who were like family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Sophie, and his beloved sister, Jane Kuntz and her husband, Donald Kuntz.
