James "Jim" C. Stauber

James "Jim" Stauber, age 55 of Minnetonka, died unexpectedly, on Friday, March 29, 2024 at home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5th at Glenwood Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Manning officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. The service will be livestreamed on the church's website: glenwoodlutheran.com. Inurnment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Glenwood. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchock Funeral Home. 

James Charles Stauber, known affectionately as Jim to his family and friends, was born on March 30, 1968, in Minneapolis, MN, to proud parents Eugene and Mary (Pederson) Stauber, Jim was the fourth of five children. He grew up in Minnetonka, where he formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories.

Jim's early years were spent attending school and St. Therese Catholic Church in Minnetonka. Jim was known for his playful antics, which often involved a bit of mischief and always succeeded in getting his classmates to share in his laughter. He was a proud graduate of Minnetonka High School, class of 1986, and shortly after his graduation, he demonstrated his love for his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. Jim served with honor and dedication from September 25, 1986, until his honorable discharge on September 24, 1990.

After his military service, Jim embarked on a career as a salesman. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in all he did. Jim found love and was united in marriage to Teresa Stai in September 1997 at Celebration Lutheran Church in Sartell. Although their union ended in divorce in May 2010, the couple shared two wonderful children, Jessica and Jacob, and made their home in Cold Spring, MN, where they devoted themselves to raising their family. In October 2020, Jim returned to his roots in Minnetonka, where he continued to live life to the fullest.

Jim's life was characterized by his sense of humor, generosity, selflessness and deep faith. He was the fun uncle, the brother who could always make you laugh, and the friend who would give you the shirt off his back. Whether he was fishing, traveling, drawing, coloring, or simply watching football, Jim did it with a smile and often with a witty remark. His love for comedy was only matched by his passion for shooting and his rather peculiar enjoyment of combing his hair, which he turned into an art form.

He is survived by a loving family: father, Eugene Stauber of Dassel, formerly of Glenwood; his daughter, Jessica (Dominic Thies) Stauber of Big Lake; his son, Jacob Stauber of Phoenix, AZ; his siblings, Elizabeth Stauber of Paynesville, Eugene Jr. (Jennifer) Stauber of Cokato, and Anne (Richard) Almquist of Parkers Prairie; his sister-in-law, Susan Stauber of Palm Coast, FL; and his cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Jim's warmth, laughter, and kind spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Jim was preceded in death by his mom, Mary Stauber and brother, Byron Stauber.

Jim's life was a testament to his selflessness and dedication to those he loved. His sense of faith was unwavering and provided a foundation of strength and comfort not only to him but to those around him. He approached every challenge with grace and every joy with gratitude.

As we remember James Charles "Jim" Stauber, let us celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and the countless memories we shared. His legacy of laughter, kindness, and love will continue to inspire us all. Jim's life was a beautiful journey that touched the hearts of many, and he will be lovingly remembered for the happiness he spread and the lives he enriched.
