George White Obituary

George White, age 63, of Brooten, MN, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 8th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten with Pastor Gary Mills officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home in Brooten and will continue on Saturday morning at the church, one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Brooten.

George Allan White was born on June 12, 1958, in Parkers Prairie, MN. He was the second of four children born to parents Richard M. and Carol J. (Grothen) White. When George was just a couple of weeks old, he was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Lassanke of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Miltona, where his parents were members. Richard and Carol raised their children in the church and as a teenager George was confirmed at St. Paul’s.

George grew up southwest of Parker’s Prairie on Lake Vermont. He attended Parkers Prairie public schools and graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1976. He worked for a time at Steinbring Chevrolet and Drymor, both in Alexandria, before accepting a position at WASP (now FAST Global Solutions) in Glenwood. WASP would become his lifetime work, a career spanning over 30 years, starting out as a laborer and progressing through the ranks of the company to a supervisory position before his retirement in April of 2018.

On November 17, 1979, George was united in marriage to Brenda Kay Lutz at Grace Lutheran Church in Evansville. They first made their home near Garfield and then Farwell and Sedan before purchasing a home in Brooten in 1998. After moving to Brooten, George and his family became members of Trinity Lutheran Church. George and Brenda later divorced.

George was a retired member of the Brooten Fire Department and was active in the National Wild Turkey Federation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and raising a large vegetable garden each year. He would can the produce he raised and was especially proud of his pickle and salsa recipes. He was even known to bake a pie on occasion. In recent years George served the community by driving school bus for BBE.

George was known as a friendly man with a huge heart. He was kind, generous, helpful and a devoted and loving father and grandfather. George died unexpectedly on the morning of Tuesday, January 4, 2022 after being transported to Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Tyler (Janeen Mitchell) White of Brooten, Tanna White of Spearfish, SD, Bridget (Mark Klimek) White of Paynesville; four grandchildren, Lydia and Jackson Mitchell and Gage and Gavin Klimek; his mother, Carol White of Parkers Prairie; fianceé Margaret Salo of Brooten and her family; two sisters, Clara (Joe) Hammer of Osakis and Carolyn (Thomas) Debilzen of Parkers Prairie; sister-in-law, Melissa White of Millerville; as well as other relatives and many friends.

George was preceded in death by his father, Richard in 2017 and his brother, Glen in 2015.
