Dawn was born on May 3rd, 1962 in Benson, MN to parents Duane John and Mary Jane (Benjaminson) Baker. She was the second of five children and the only girl of four brothers. While growing up on a small farm South of Terrace, she developed her love for nature, gardening, and preserving food the family grew. She was baptized and confirmed at Shepard of the Hills Church in Swift Falls. If you knew Dawn, you knew her strong love for Jesus. She always had her Bible open and loved sharing God’s Word with others. She graduated from Brooten High School in 1980. She was blessed with 2 children, Jessie and Shawn, during her first marriage to Jim Petersen. She gave birth to two more daughters, Jenny and Heather, during her second marriage to Jay Bredeken. She found so much joy in being a mother. She was a homemaker and showed her love for her family through cooking. She also taught step aerobics at the Glenwood fitness center for a time, was a Mary Kay Ambassador, and used her life experience to counsel those who struggled with addictions. She truly found her life’s purpose through helping and being there for others.
She always cherished her memories made with family, especially at the family farm and down at Camp Lake. The family would like to thank her special friend Wayne and everyone who played special role in her life. She will be remembered by her fun spirit, infectious laugh, and deeply caring nature.
She is survived by four children, Jessie (Chris) Moen, Shawn (Julie) Petersen, Jenny (Roscoe Fowler) Bredeken, and Heather (Chris Molde) Bredeken; six grandchildren Hunter and Hailey Moen, Carsten, Ashyln, Tayden, and Rylin Petersen. Also surviving is her mother, Mary Jane Baker, brothers: Darryl (Terri) Baker, Daniel (Amanda) Baker, and Duane (Trish) Baker Jr. She was “Auntie Dawn” to many.
She was preceded in death by her father Duane Baker, brother, Doug Baker, baby niece Mandy Baker, grandparents Frank and Clara Baker, and grandparents Bert and Anna Benjaminson.
