Christopher Long Obituary

Christopher R. Long, age 31, of Saint Paul, MN, formerly of Glenwood, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at M Fairview St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN. A Memorial Service celebrating Christopher’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Glenwood Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at noon. The service will be livestreamed on the church's website glenwoodlutheran.com for those who cannot attend in person. Inurnment will take place in the spring at Clarkfield City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood. 

Christopher Reed Long was born December 14, 1991 in Willmar, MN to Patrick A. Long and Kimberly D. Holder. He was baptized in the Methodist faith at Clarkfield and later attended confirmation at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. He attended school in Montevideo through the 6th grade before moving to Glenwood, where he graduated from Minnewaska Area High School in 2010. While in high school he served on Student Council and was a pole vaulter on the track team.

At the time of his death, Christopher was attending Century College in Saint Paul. Previously he worked at Pizza Ranch and Duffy’s (now AJ’s), both in Glenwood, and New Beginnings in Alexandria, before moving to St. Cloud where he worked for ARIA as a communications representative. He most recently worked for a lawn maintenance company in Roseville and in the deli at Kowalski's Market in St. Paul.

Chris was a talented, caring young man. He taught himself to play guitar, was artistic, a good cook, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at M Fairview St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood.

Left to mourn his passing are his parents, Patrick Long and Kim Moe (Shawn Huntley and his children, Elijah and Lucas Huntley); his brother, Samuel Long; three uncles, Eric Long, Marty Holder and Aron Holder; one aunt, Kristine (David) Guindon; grandparents, Mark and Carol Long, Jon and Terri Thostenson, and Larry Holder; great grandmother, Geraldine (Jeri) Williams, along with many cousins and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by his stillborn son, Isaiah James Long; his stepfather, Jon Moe; cousins, Erika Holder and Joshua Helgeson; aunt, Amy Long; grandparents, Larry and Kathy Gilbertson; step-grandmother, Joyce Moe; great-grandmother, Dorothy Goehring; great grandfather, Arthur Reed Long; and great-grandparents, Dean and Bonnie Shaw.
