Bruce Philip Wagner was born to Philip and Dorothy (Dynda) Wagner on September 11, 1947, in Alexandria, Minnesota. He was the second of seven children and grew up in Lowry, where he learned the values of responsibility, perseverance, and kindness that guided him throughout his life. He attended Lowry Elementary School and later Glenwood High School, graduating in 1965. While in high school he enjoyed participating in various sports. After high school he continued his education at Alexandria Technical College.
On August 27, 1966, Bruce was united in marriage to Terri Anderson in Michigan. Together they built their home in Glenwood and were blessed with one son, Troy.
Bruce spent his life behind the wheel as a truck driver, and trucking was more than a job to him. It was a lifelong calling and a source of pride. He hauled freight and livestock, worked for and later owned Lowry Transfer, and also drove for various other trucking companies over the years. His dedication to his work was remarkable, and in his lifetime, he achieved an incredible five million miles driven. That accomplishment reflected not only his endurance and skill, but also the dependability and commitment that made him respected by all who knew him.
Bruce was also deeply involved in his community. He served on the Glenwood Fire Department for 25 years. He also drove ambulance for the Glenwood Hospital. In addition, he was an active member of the Glenwood Jaycees and served as president, showing leadership and a heart for community service. He belonged to Glenwood Lutheran Church and when he was younger, he sang in the church choir. He loved music and sang at many events, including relatives’ weddings, funerals, and karaoke gatherings. He was known for his voice and for the happiness he brought to others through song. When he needed help with his daily care, Bruce moved into Glacial Trails Memory Care in Starbuck. He died there on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 59 years, Terri of Glenwood; his brothers, Merle (Bonnie) Wagner, Gordy (Ann) Wagner, and Kevin Wagner, all of Glenwood; his sisters, Eileen (Butch) Holtberg of Little Falls and Suzanne Schurr of Plymouth; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss his presence and his steady, caring nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Troy, and his brother Timmy Wagner.
