Joan Lange, age 84 of Glenwood, died Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Glenwood Retirement Village. Private family services will be held.  Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Joan Clara Brau was born on January 21, 1935 to Carl and Frances (Stadick) Brau on the family farm in Granite Rock Township near Wabasso MN. Joan was the oldest of three children. With the sudden death of her father in 1952, her family moved from the family farm to Wabasso. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1953.

Joan was united in marriage to James Lange on April 7, 1956 at St Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso. They first lived in Groton, South Dakota, where Jim worked as a welder while Joan was a wife and homemaker. In 1967, after moves to Alexandria and Virginia, Minnesota, Joan and Jim started farming by Lowry. They moved to their present farm south of Farwell in 1971, where they raised their five children. Jim passed away in 2006. In 2015, Joan moved to Ridgewood Villa in Glenwood, then to Parkview Court, and since October 2018, she has been a resident of Glenwood Retirement Village.

Joan passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Glenwood Retirement Village. She will be remembered as a hard-working farm wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Joan is survived by her five children, Keith of Farwell, Dennis of Lowry, Julie and her husband Lyle Blair of Glenwood, Kelly of Colorado Springs, CO, and Roger of Honolulu, HI; three grandchildren, Brian Blair of Starbuck, Lisa and her husband Travis Shepersky of Starbuck, and Jennifer Lange of Grand Junction, CO; one great-granddaughter, Mesa Shepersky of Starbuck; a sister, Helen Marotzke of Marshall, MN and a brother, David Brau and his wife, Connie, of Montevideo, MN; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
