Janice Marie Schulte

Janice Schulte, age 66, of Villard, MN, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria, MN. Per Janice’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Instead, her family plans to gather at the Office Sports Bar and Grill in Villard on Saturday, June 1st from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. to celebrate and remember Janice. Friends are welcome to stop by during those hours to visit with the family.

Janice Marie Gieser, the third of six children born to Alfred and Yvonne (Larson) Gieser of Marshall, MN, was born December 29, 1952. When she was young, her family purchased a farm near Villard, MN. It was there that they raised Janice and her siblings. Janice attended Villard public schools and graduated with the Villard High School Class of 1971. On November 18, 1977, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Schulte of Milroy, MN. They made their home in Milroy. In 1986, Janice and Lawrence separated and she returned to Villard to live near her parents. Years later, the two divorced.

Over the years, Janice bartended at many local establishments near Milroy and Villard, including the establishment now known as the Office Sports Bar and Grill, where her family will gather on June 1st to remember her.

Janice enjoyed reading, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed playing cribbage and recently taught her grandson, Evan to play, which became a favorite pastime for them. She will be remembered for her sarcasm, quick wit and as a loving grandmother.

Janice is survived by her mother, Yvonne Gieser of Alexandria; her four children, Bradley Schulte of Milroy, Ryan (Teresa) Schulte of Amiret, Nicole (Keith) Chapman of Eagle Bend, and Alicia Gettel of Villard; four grandchildren, Piper and Paige Schulte of Amiret and Evan and Remi Chapman of Eagle Bend; four siblings, Ron Gieser of Villard, Nancy (Gary) Bailey of Pensacola, FL, Bruce Gieser of Ventura, CA, and Kathy (David) Miller of Phoenix, AZ; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Gieser and a sister, Judy Cheek.
