Emery Allan Evenson was born September 30, 1949 in Glenwood, MN to Richard and Avis (Powers) Evenson and baptized into Christ. He spent his early years in rural Starbuck in the rolling hills of the family farm and then in Minneapolis seeking boyhood adventure on the banks of Mississippi River. In his 6th grade year, the family moved to the farm near Westport and Emery attended Villard School. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. John's Church in Villard and graduated as a member of the class of 1967 from Villard High School.
After graduation Emery continued to work the farm with his parents and purchased additional land of his own, also taking factory jobs from time to time. He found a career in gravel hauling and backhoe work and took pride in his natural ability to operate equipment.
Emery was united in marriage to Deb Reynolds on March 17th, 1984. They were blessed with a daughter and a son. Throughout his life Emery enjoyed horses, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and mischief. Emery was a creative and inventive thinker, always coming up with solutions for problems. He had a soft spot for spoiling children and teaching them new things. He was a keeper of family and local history and a great story teller. The Evenson farm was known as somewhere where the coffee was always on and visitors were always welcome.
Emery is survived by his wife Deb, daughter Jennifer (James) Olson of Glenwood, son Garret of Brooten, mother Avis of Glenwood, brother Lawrence (Bonnie) of Zimmerman, sisters Jane (Shorty) Braten of Columbus, MT and Julie (Doug) Denecke of Worland, WY, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Evenson.
