Cheryl Van Vickle, age 64 of Glenwood, died December 19, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 26th at Glenwood Lutheran Church with Rev. Randy Chrissis officiating. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.
Cheryl Kae Van Vickle was born March 9, 1954 in Glenwood, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Leonard and Lorraine (Martin) Van Vickle. She was baptized and confirmed at Glenwood Lutheran Church and stayed in touch by listening every Sunday to the radio broadcast. She grew up in Glenwood and attended Glenwood High School. She was blessed with two children, Lisa and Travis and one very special granddaughter, Honora Kay.
Cheryl was employed as a cook at various businesses in Glenwood, including: Roger’s Café, Phillips Pizza, Franklin Street Diner, Parkview Court and Glacial Ridge Hospital in the dietary department. She also worked at Lakeview Good Samaritan Center as a housekeeper and in laundry and had several cleaning jobs.
Cheryl enjoyed an occasional trip to a casino to play her favorite game Jackpot party, but what Cheryl enjoyed the most was her granddaughter, Honora. She recently spent Thanksgiving in Kansas with her daughter, son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. They celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas and Honora’s 4th birthday. Cheryl passed away December 19, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud at the age of 64 years.
She will be deeply missed.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Lisa Van Vickle of Marshall, MN; son, Travis (Amber) Van Vickle from Windom, Kansas; granddaughter, Honora Van Vickle of Windom, Kansas; siblings: Barbara Sanvig, Vicky Van Vickle, Charlene Van Vickle, Debra Van Vickle, David (Kathy) Van Vickle all of Glenwood; brother-in-law, Michael Martin of Alexandria; uncles, Gary (Donna) Martin and Steven Martin both of Glenwood and Clifford Van Vickle of Starbuck; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carolyn Martin.
