Audrey Kinney passed away on November 8, 2019 at the age of 95. She was born in Clear Lake, WI to George and Abbie (Peterson) Hallen, and lived in Clear Lake throughout her early years. Following high school graduation she attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, where she met her future husband, James Kinney. She graduated with a degree in English and music. She and Jim were married in 1946, when he returned from serving in the army during WWII. While he completed two years of journalism school at the University of Minnesota, Audrey taught school in Osseo, MN.

The young couple moved to Benson, MN, where Audrey taught school in Kerkhoven and Jim worked at the Benson Monitor-News. In 1955 they moved to Glenwood, where they purchased both a home and the Pope County Tribune. Audrey was very active in the Glenwood community, notably the Glenwood Lutheran Church, the American Association of University Women, several bridge clubs, Girl Scout Council, Glenwood Literary Club, and the Minnewaska Golf Club. She was an avid golfer and tennis player, and enjoyed gardening, reading, bird-watching, socializing, and traveling after her husband retired. She also was a substitute teacher and a reading specialist in the Glenwood school system.

She is survived by her daughters Kristin (Gary) Hays, Allison (Jeff) Halvorson, Ann (Ted) Allison, and Jane Kinney; grandchildren Amy Hays, Andrew (Nicole) Hays, Syverind (Jill) Halvorson, Leif (Mary Kate) Halvorson, Ben (Aimee) Allison, and Rachel Allison; and great-grandchildren Logan, Mason, and Chloe Hays. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, her siblings Georgine Nilssen, Roxann Anderson, and James Hallen, granddaughter Mari Lea Allison and great-granddaughter Laney Marie Hays.

She will be remembered for her graciousness, sense of humor, love of music, dedication to her family and community, and her excellent hostessing skills.
