Aldean W. Henke

Aldean Henke, age 75, of Glenwood, MN, died Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Glenwood Village Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 7th, at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with Hoplin Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Aldean Willian Henke, son of William and Esther (Scherer) Henke, was born on August 9, 1942, in Youngtown, ND. He grew up on a farm near Youngtown. He and his family were members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and Aldean attended parochial school there.

In March of 1959, Aldean’s family moved to a farm near Sedan, MN, where they milked dairy cows. Aldean worked on the family farm for 35 years before his health deteriorated to the point that he could no longer work. Soon thereafter Aldean became a resident at Lakeview Good Samaritan in Glenwood, and eventually, at Glenwood Retirement Village, where he resided until the time of his death.

Aldean enjoyed a good game of horseshoes, playing and coaching softball, watching westerns on television, bingo, and in his later years, trips to the A & W and the bowling alley. He will be remembered for his quick and hearty laugh and for playing pranks on his nieces and nephews.

Aldean is survived by his sister, Marjorie Henke Kjeldahl; sister-in-law, Jeanette Henke; nephews, Bill Henke, David (Angie) Henke, Bruce Westphal, Bradley (Karrie) Kjeldahl; a niece, Debbie (Dennis) Sondrol; great-nephews, Ben Henke and Bryce Sondrol; great-nieces, Caitlin Henke, Melinda (Adam) Freeh, Grace (Eric) Hillesheim, Kathryn (Cody) Henderson, and Julia Henke

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Esther Henke, and a brother, Darrel Henke.
