Joyce Marie (Bennett) Harvey, age 82 died Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. Cloud Hospital. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 14th at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.   Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood. 

Joyce was born on April 2, 1935 to Bertha (Kleven) and Chester H. Bennett.  She grew up on a farm near Lowry and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1953.  She attended Minnesota School of Business and graduated with a degree in Brief Accounting.  She was a bookkeeper for several companies but retired from the Pope County Treasurer's Office in 1994 after many years of service.

Joyce married George W. Harvey May 29, 1954, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lowry.  Their first home was in Minneapolis, but they moved to their farm in Chippewa Falls Township in 1955.  In 1970 they moved to her current home in northeast Glenwood.

Joyce loved to travel and visited many wonderful places.  She enjoyed water aerobics and the many gatherings with the other "Silver Splashers".  Her dear friend Coreen Paulson was continually at her side and they were nicknamed "Thelma and Louise".

Joyce made it a priority and found great joy in attending her children's, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, etc.  She also was an avid MN sports fan, and especially loved watching the Twins.  She enjoyed playing cards and games.  She was a wonderful cook and passed that down to her family.  Her lefse was the best and she hosted family lefse making/teaching events to keep the tradition alive.  She had a lifelong love for reading and embroidered the best dish towels for her family.  Most importantly she was an accepting, kind, and loving person!

She is survived and deeply missed by her children, Sue Hagen (Tom Miller) of North St. Paul, Bruce (Martha) Harvey of Villard, Debbie Moorer of Glenwood, Nancy (Tim) Whitesell of Annandale, and Sherri (Bruce) Nordhausen of Rice; 13 grandchildren, Ray, Clinton, Christine, Will, Wyatt, Cheryl, Michelle, Erika, Elise, Emeral, Bruce Jr., Weston and Hana; 16 great grandchildren, Connell, Liam, Nicolas, Madison, Trent, Nichole, Kaiden, 12/2017 baby Harvey, Bennett, Reid, D'Anthony, Liliana, Lucille, Alaina, Bailey, and Edison; sister Beverly (John) Braaten of Alexandria; sister-in-laws, Faye Jahr of Edina, Arlene Andersen of Burnsville, and Pat Larson of Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Marjorie Jensen, Lavina Mortenson, Chester W. Bennett (Bud), Glenn Bennett, and Sharon Wenner; nephews, Larry Benson and Jim Jahr; nieces, Patsy Jahr and Judy Larson.
