Colin Kilts, age 74 of Glenwood, died Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. A memorial gathering will be held at the Livermore Senior Citizens Center, 405 4th St., Livermore, Iowa on October 21st at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home. 

Colin Kelly Kilts, the son of Betty Jean Kilts was born February 2, 1943 in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up in Livermore, Iowa. He attended Faith United Methodist Church in Livermore, Iowa and studied the church of God. He attended school at Twin River Valley School in Livermore.

Colin was employed many years at P & M Stone at Humborld and Bradgate Quarries and Snap On Tools in Algona, Iowa and Cuddys and Aghem in Jackson, Minnesota.

He was united in marriage to Susan Deloris Dahl on June 17, 1963 in Livermore. The couple made their home in Livermore, Ruthland, Algona and Arnald’s Park, Iowa before moving to Jackson, Fairmont and finally Glenwood, Minnesota. Colin and Susan were blessed with six children: Teresa, Gwen, Janella, Owen, Steve and Colin, Jr. They shared 52 years of marriage.

Colin enjoyed reading, listening to his vast record collection, traveling, sightseeing, looking at the leaves in the fall, treasure hunting, thrift stores, fishing, writing and car racing. He had a love for trains, rail systems and watching and attending wrestling events.  He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and reading and studying the Bible.

He will be remembered for his enjoyment of life, love of trains and collecting records and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Colin passed away October 8, 2017 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.

He is survived by his son, Owen Kilts of Starbuck; daughters, Teresa Kilts of Cedar Rapids, IA and Janella (Dave) Pierce of Spirit Lake, IA; grandchildren: Brian, Lukas, Rose and Lilly Kilts, Johnathon Kilts, Storm Kilts, Levi Kilts, Nathen and Matthew Karl, Dustin, Daniel, Lonnie Whitford, Michael John, Brandon Kilts and Lisa Pierce; great-grandchildren: Madison, Addison, Knoxx, Tivianna, Emmalexia, Courdan, Essence, Onix, Demetri, and Keingzly Steven Wade; sister, Janice Hinkens; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Colin is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Kilts; wife, Susan in 2015; sons, Colin Kilts Jr. and Steven Kilts; daughter, Gwendalyn (Kilts) Wilson; granddaughter, Brittney Wilson; brother, Clarence Schrieber; sisters, Alice Dahl and Linda Fredrickson; brothers-in-law, Tom Nilles, Mike Johansen, and Bill Briggs; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Hall.
